The Vietnamese health service has unceasingly developed and strengthened in 65 years of the country development and 55 years fulfilling the teaching by President Hồ Chí Minh “The physician is as benevolent as the mother”. The matter of care for the peoples health has achieved great progress and success, but we must still achieve the goals set out in the Resolution of X Party Congress and the tasks of the Health Service Strategy for the 2011-2020 period. We must concentrate our efforts on fulfilling the following combined, determined and efficient measures: utilising the “gold age” of the population, increasing state investment in the health service, promoting socialization of medical activities, honoring and granting awards to virtuous physicians and patients. Apart from the development of the public health service, types of non - public health service should also be facilitated. Reforms of health service administration should also be accelerated. The grassroots health networks should be strengthened. The policy of providing health insurance to all people should be perfected and innovated.
