First organized since May 1998, “The International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties (IMCWP) has proved to be an important multilateral forum of communist and workers’ parties in the world.

The constant, stable and broad attendance of communist and workers’ parties in the world has turned IMCWP into a place for meeting, sharing, exchange of information, theory and experience of communist and workers’ parties in different countries. Thus it has strengthened political capacity of each party, especially when several parties in particular and the international communist and workers’ movement in general have faced with numerous difficulties.

In the capacity of a communist party and the ruling party which is implementing foreign policies of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development, over the past years, the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) has attached importance to IMCWP and participated in all meetings since 1998. Information shared by the delegations of CPV has helped other parties better understand the leading guidelines of CPV, particularly policies on building the socialist-oriented marker economy of Viet Nam. A lot of parties supported Viet Nam, maintaining that that building of the socialist-oriented market in the transition to socialism was a theoretical contribution to Marxism-Leninism. Many parties emphasized that the stable development of Viet Nam and some other socialist countries in the current international situation demonstrated the strong vitality and bright prospect of socialism.

At the 13th MICWP, participating parties reached high unanimity to the suggestion of the Communist Party of Viet Nam to include in the meeting’s Joint Communiqué the sentence: “In the current crisis of capitalism, experience and practice in socialist construction manifest priority of socialism.” Also after that meeting, the Communist Party of Viet Nam decided to join the web page solidnet.org of communist and workers’ parties, and assigned the Communist Review the focal point to provide information on the CPV, and Viet Nam on solidnet.org./.
