Amid changes in international situation, policies of external relations put forth by the 11th Party Congress have been comprehensively implemented Important achievements have been made which have enhanced our country’s prestige and position in the world. Relations between Viet Nam and other countries have developed strongly in both scope and scale.

The relations between Vietnam and other nations, especially with neighboring countries, ASEAN and countries in Asia-Pacific region and big counterparts have been deepened and strengthened. In the two years of implementation of the 11th Party Congress’ policies on external relations, leaders of the Party, State, Government and National Assembly of Viet Nam have made high-level visits to countries in Asia-Pacific region such as China, Russia, ASEAN countries, Japan, South Korea, and India and to friends and counter parts in Europe, and Latin America. We have also received many heads of state and leaders of governments of countries, friends and counterparts to Viet Nam.

Pro-active diplomatic activities have brought about concrete and practical achievements: we upgraded relations with the Federation of Russia to “comprehensive strategic partnership” in July 2012. We established strategic partnership with Germany in October 2011; signed the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with EU in July 2012; established strategic partnership in the field of climate change, environment, energy and green growth with Denmark in November 2011, bringing the total number of countries of strategic partnership to 10. We have continued preparing for the enhancement of relations with other countries of priority and importance in 2013 and the coming years./.
